Miel sobre hojuelas - Honey on flakes

I am noticing I am having non Spanish readers so have decided to write in English, just in case. Please allow me to have few mistakes in my writing, hope not too many!! I am planning to translate previous notes when I can. I am open to feedback.

It would be great to say everything is perfect but it is not, this week,  I worked on my orchids and replaced the bark and confirmed that orchids are sensitive to water, it is better to have lack of water than extra water, they don't like to be flooding so forget about trays below your orquids pots, trays protect your furniture but kills your orchids unless you make sure you empty the water after watering them. Make sure water flows and it is not kept inside like a pool!

Everything starts with the roots, I did not notice this one was flooding and when it showed at the bulbs level it was to late.  I have found a good practice to replace the bark and touch with your fingers to check if you have too much water or not.  When too much water, roots become very soft and you can smash them very easily with your fingers, you will end wet, however, when lack of water, roots are dry and rough, they can break but not smashed. Leaves will look very similar though.

No more water  please!!!!
I have cleaned the roots with clean water and removed the bad roots, the ones that were flooding are now inside the house as raining season has just started here in Mexico City, I changed the bark and I placed them in a dry, sunny area hoping to recover.

It is more feasible to recover from lack of water than from excess of water from what I have seen. I don't know yet what is the right watering frequency to avoid this happening as also depends on the weather, if you have them inside or outside, type of orchid. I don't want to end with different needs as it will be very difficult to maintain considering I am a single working mother of 2 daughters, no much free time for me!  Good luck with yours!!!
