Después de 1 año de no actualizar mi blog, estas son las novedades:
After a year, here are the news:

Paphiopedillum Insigne

La fiel paphiopedillum insigne ya tiene el primer botón, es un ejemplar que florece en Invierno con inflorescencias muy vistosas y grandes, veremos que trae esta temporada cuando abra.  Tengo registros de floración desde el 2004, no sabría con certeza la edad de este ejemplar porque no llevaba registros anteriormente.

Se les conoce como zapatito o zapatilla de mujer aunque en general a las paphios se les llama así por su forma, el clima de la Cd. De México es ideal. Recomiendo maceta y considera que al no tener pseudobulbos podrían requerir riego 2 veces a la semana. Fácil de cultivar.

También con inflorescencias vistosas, NOID cuyo nombre no recuerdo, habrá que buscarla en los libros.



Prostechea Cochleata

 Prostechea Cochleata, ha estado floreciendo desde Julio, 4 meses sin descanso, las inflorescencias siguen siendo lucidoras aunque el tamaño  y cantidad de flores se ha reducido, la recomendación es tenerlas en un área más calurosa y eventualmente cortar la vaina para dejar descansar a la planta.

Hay novedades en mi orquidiario,  actualmente, las plantas se encuentran al exterior ubicadas con una tela sombra que las protege del sol pero no del frío, las plantas están, algunas en troncos y potes de fibra de coco colgados a la pared, otras, las que están en maceta, se encuentran en un mueble plástico, probablemente sombra en exceso ya que las mismas plantas bloquean la luz a las otras que se encuentran en niveles inferiores. 

2 polines + 6 travesaños 

Ya tenemos los polines y travesaños para armar la estructura que sostendrá el techo de policarbonato, la madera, barnizada al mismo tono que la madera de la casa, sostendrá el techo, será decorativa y permitirá colgar ejemplares del techo optimizando el espacio de aprox 10 m2.

El techo permitirá tener el área protegida del frio, de las granizadas, viento helado y ayudará a tener un área más adecuada para la floración. ¡Nos estamos preparando para recibir el invierno!

I went shopping, but instead of shoes, I got orchids!!!



Trichocentrum cebolleta

 I think it is a Trichocentrum cebolleta although I am still in doubt so still checking books and orchids pictures to confirm.  Pot was completely full so I decided to repot immediatly dividing the Plant in two.  Both plants are still crowd enough to look beautiful.  It has pseudobulbs so easy to divide. They are now in my living room while they look like this, then I will place them outdoors.

I bought it at Xochimilco, south of Mexico City.

Dendrobium



This is a dendrobium, I got it at Rio Verde Orquidiarium located at Temascaltepec, Mexico.  This is a high humidity area in the middle of the mountains where orquids grow naturally.  This nursery is focused on growing mexican species although dendrobiums are not as far as I know.



I also got a paphiopedillum,  it has a bottom, I am waiting anxiously to see it open and see the flower!  I will get the picture for sure as soon as it shows up!.

Mitoniopsis



Meet my new mitoniopsis, it looks like a tulip and only when you see it in detail you will see it is an orchid, this one is purple, picture does not show the beauty of it.

The last but not least see below an oncidium ornithorrhincum, beautifull flowers, with no more than 2 cm diameter, I am noticing that oncidiums have small flowers but not sure yet if I can say all oncidiums have this characteristic yet, still more to investigate about them.
